Consumer prices rose 6.4% in the 12 months through January 2023, holding steady from 6.5% in December. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, ran 5.6%. The CPI-U index stood at 299.17, a 0.8% change from the prior month (not seasonally adjusted).
